YVONNE PICOT
Looking Out

18 November - 17 December 2008

The Exhibition:

The three works displayed are large digital prints entitled “I”,“ Trapped” and “Looking Out”. The focus of artwork has been to depict the way social pressure imprisons or alienates women,
in its powerful pressure to conform to an ideal body image and appearance.

The artist says “ with all three pieces I have worked with collage, paint and oil pastel.”
“Two entirely different artworks were photographed and reworked in Photoshop, creating
a layer upon layer, strengthening the impression of the figures looking out through the layers of colour.” The artwork is for sale and can also be purchased in limited edition at smaller scale.

The Artist:

Yvonne Picot describes herself as “an emerging artist since 2004”, when she completed a Diploma of Arts, 2004-2005. Currently she is studying at Chisholm Institute, Dandenong
where she is enrolled in a Certificate IV in Contemporary Art (Computer Aided Art).
Yvonne says, “My life experience has enriched me with a variety of quite disparate themes and an enthusiastic interest in exploring a wide variety of media and techniques with which to portray them.”
The artist was recently the winner of the Jayco 2D Graphic Award at the Chisholm
Institute Awards, Drum Theatre, Dandenong.
